Powerfully Say What You Do in 7 Words

When someone asks what you do, what do you say?

The typical response is something like, “I’m a realtor,” or “I’m a social media consultant,” or “I’m a doctor/lawyer/nurse/hypnotist/etc.”

Notice that all of these responses may be accurate and that they all have one thing in common: They don’t say anything about what you do for others, about the outcome you provide, which is much more interesting!

For example, a business attorney could respond by saying, “I keep businesses out of hot water.”  Or, “I keep businesses out of court,” which is only 6 words. This not only zeroes in on the outcome, it also evokes curiosity! The usual response will be, “Really? How do you do that?”

How can you say what you do in 7 words (or less) to have it be more powerful and evoke curiosity where they want to know more? By focusing on what you do for others.

By focusing on others, your statement is not only more interesting, it will most likely lead the other person to ask, “Really? How do you do that?” or “Wow, tell me more!”

When you say something that evokes curiosity, your words are powerful, impactful, and will usually illicit a response.

What is your power statement?  Please share!
