I didn’t start out as “the confident speaker.”

I started behind the scenes — writing, researching, organizing, and making other people look brilliant. Early in my career, I was editing proposals and researching prospects in the consulting department at Ernst & Young (before Google was a thing).

That work led to a leap: I was recruited by a Big 8 accounting firm (Touche Ross, now Deloitte) as a Marketing Coordinator, where I coached partners and managers to network, present, and communicate their value with more confidence and authenticity.

That’s where I learned something important:

My Speaking Journey

Over the years, my career moved through corporate, nonprofit, tech, and entrepreneurship — but the throughline never changed:

Training. Speaking. Developing Systems. Marketing. Technology.

Along the way, I:

  • Re-trained myself as a speaker through Toastmasters — going from terrified to regularly being voted Best Table Topics speaker (impromptu, no prep, no notes).
  • Served as President of the Galleria Area Chamber of Commerce in Houston, facilitating 100+ events and serving as emcee.
  • Appeared on television, coordinated numerous executive-level speaking events, and hosted my own workshops.
  • Served as National Director of TechExecs, coaching CIOs across the U.S. on speaking and presence.
  • Contributed a chapter to Marketing for Accountants (John Wiley & Sons), co-authored publications, & served as an editor for several books.
  • Delivered keynotes or participated as a featured speaker, panelist, or facilitator for many organizations .
