On my webinar this week, I shared a cool road map of the 4 things to do to become a confident, in-demand speaker.   Those 4 things are:

  1. Improve your speaker skills
  2. Create/have a website with key components
  3. Start speaking (a must in order to get asked/paid to speak!)
  4. Start blogging and posting

The underlying foundation encompasses 3 things:  speaking skill, creating value, and getting known. Using this road map will bring you new clients and speaking engagements without even trying. Why? Because when you provide value to people, they will want to do business with you. By blogging and posting valuable content on Facebook (one billion users), LinkedIn (151 million) and Twitter (500 milion), you are reaching hundreds of thousands of people.  The numbers are in your favor.

    I completely agree with the points you make. I spoke to audiences of 300 in my corporate days, but the challenge today is to have the list big enough for people to get to know you and show up for the teleseminars, events, etc.

      So true Faina – you do need to build your community, and there are strategies to reach more and build with social media. I love showing how to do that.

    Since today is the 12 and the course has already started will you be offering it again soon? I joined Toastmasters to improve my speaking, and any additional tips would be great. I have already given a few talks, but they are few and far between and often don’t bring in any money. 🙁 I have a blog, although I suspect I need another one for my speaking. Need help desperately building a website. Your course sounds like what I need, and I can “almost” afford it (a little less gas money next month). Would love to have advance notice next time you offer the course. 🙂

    Nita and Jay – thank you for the comments. The course is online and the first module is now ready. You can start it anytime! The only thing that is live is the live Q&A call when will be scheduled towards the middle of the 4 week kick off.

    Each week the next module will be ready (on a Saturday). You can start now or tomorrow, next week, or next month.
